More Than Just an Editor. Your Ally in Academia.

With a background in interdisciplinary research and decades of teaching experience, I wear many hats: researcher, editor, and champion of inclusive academic writing.

I hold two PhDs, completed simultaneously (and yes, with two separate dissertations!) from the University of Colorado Boulder. My research spans trauma studies, performance, education, eco-poetics, creativity, writing, somatics, and pedagogy. My editing path has taken me far wider, however, working regularly across the sciences, psychology, social sciences, media, and business.

I’ve co-founded an international academic journal, and my extensive publication experience includes a monograph with Routledge, articles, fiction, and award-winning poetry. I hold a Master of Education in Language and Literacy from the University of Georgia, and an MFA in Creative Writing from The New School, giving me a unique perspective on writing development. My own creative pursuits include an award-winning novella and a published novel, further deepening my understanding of the craft. I’ve written, edited and reviewed a plethora of book proposals, creative grant applications, conference abstracts and proposals, as well as successful graduate school applications.

You might say I’m fluent in the language of academia!

I’ve worked with scholars from top Australian institutions (I’m an expat Melbournite) to R1 and liberal arts colleges across the US, mentoring them across the academic spectrum. This includes undergraduates crafting their first papers, PhD candidates finalizing dissertations, and seasoned academic writers.

Although an Arts gal at heart, I’ve edited a biology dissertation that held the distinction of being the first PhD thesis in that R1 department to pass with no changes, and edited a design thesis that scored the graduate student a full scholarship. I have expertise in supporting neurodivergent students (of which I am one), first-generation college students, and students from culturally diverse backgrounds. Helping non-native English speakers navigate academic publishing is a particular passion.

No matter where you are at in your scholarly journey, I look forward to meeting you and helping your work get the attention it deserves!
